Business Cards

Good evening everyone, and a very happy Saturday. Tonight I want to touch base on one of the most important pieces of any stationary package, the business card. This one little 3.5”x 2” piece of paper us the key to any successful individual and or business alike, but what makes for a good business card you ask? First off we have to look at the overall layout, whether you choose a horizontal or vertical format, your design should be tailored to this for the best possible results. Next is getting your important informational points across to your client without loosing their attention in the design of your card. To expand on this, you never want your business car to be “busy” design wise so that it makes the attention of your reader wander from the important aspects. This does not mean you can not add your own little flair to your cards, but remember that less is more, and an elegant dash is better than a splash. The example photograph above is a business card that I designed for myself back in college, executing the “stepping stone” method of design. First I want to draw my reader in, which is done by the elegant hand vectored accent designs that border the most important piece of info, my name. After this I give the service that I provid, in this case Graphic Design work, followed by my contact information. This allows my client to easily absorb the intended info while still remaining visually appealing. This is not the only method you may use, but this is just an example of what worked best for myself. In the end, you will choose your own path and methods to find out what works specifically for you. As long as you keep an open mind and remember the general rules of thumb, you will never be disappointed. Looking forward to tackling many other topics during the approaching fall season and hope you will all enjoy the content! As always stay safe, healthy, and creative!
